November Favorites!!

27 Nov

Hello Lovers!!

As the month comes to a close, I wanted to take a moment to highlight some of my favorite go-to products this month. I have been into a very neutral eye paired with a dark lip vibe lately. These products help me to achieve that beautifully, as well as lasting all day!

Image

Here is a break down of the list going clockwise:

Ulta Voluptuous Volume Mascara – THIS. That is what I have to say about this mascara. It is amazing and does everything I need it to do. I get great volume and a wonderful darkness and depth to my lashes with this product. This can be purchased at your local Ulta.

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Liptar in ‘Black Dahlia’ – THIS.IS.EVERYTHING. I am absolutely in love with this liptar. It is everything that fall and winter should be; dark, sultry, smooth and warm in the coolest way. It comes on as the darkest blood cherry red and also has a slight stain quality that makes it so you never look like you’re without color in your lips. It’s gorgeous in short. It can be purchased at occmakeup.com, at their stand alone store in NYC or at select Sephora locations.

Sugarpill Cosmetics Pressed Eyeshadow in ‘Bulletproof’ – This matte black shadow is a must have! I feel that this is an essential eye shadow to have in your collection. I literally us this shadow in 90% of my makeup looks. This month I have used Bulletproof to set my liner and smudge it out for more depth. Purchase this at http://www.sugarpillshop.com/

Urban Decay 24HR Liquid Eyeliner in ‘Perversion’ – This is a great liquid eyeliner that is easy to apply and lasts all day. It is one of the darkest eyeliners I have used and I have never had a problem with applying it. Purchase at urbandecay.com, Ulta or Sephora.

Sauce Box Cosmetics Eyeshadow in ‘Spy’ – This eyeshadow has been the perfect highlight for me. It is easy to use, not to chalky or powdery but also not too strong for a subtle highlight. I use it under my brow to really emphasize the shape and bring some brightness to my eyes. This can be purchased at sauceboxcosmetics.com

Inglot Cosmetics Freedom System Rainbow Shadows – The freedom system from Inglot is one of my favorite things in the makeup world. You pick and choose what colors you want and make a wonderful palette with them, As a step up….they have the Rainbow shadows, which contain 3 colors in one pan. This is the perfect set up for lid, crease and a highlight all in one!! They have lots of options, I only posted some of the options that are perfect for somebody doing a neutral look. These can be purchased at inglotusa.com or Inglot stores.

What are your favorite products for November?

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

22 Oct

Hello Hue Lovers!!

How beautiful was this weekend, right?? After a gorgeous fall weekend I feel great going into the new week. Though I worked on Saturday, I was able to enjoy a wonderful and uplifting Sunday by attending the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. The energy was amazing and the day was absolutely beautiful. In my post, Tuesday Tip: Always Remember that Hope Makes All Things Possible!. , I showed a Day Look and Night Look for Breast Cancer Awareness. For the walk I decided to wear makeup that was practical for a walk but still fun and inspired!

As you can see I went veryyyy light with my makeup for the walk. I rocked a simple eye with liner, but Sugarpill’s Dollipop gave the perfect pop of pink on my lid. For my lips I decided to go nice and bright pink!! I used OCC’s Anime lip tar topped with Revlon’s Lip Butter in Lollipop, I darkened the corners with a black liner blended in.

I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful and productive weekend! Here are a couple of pics from my day!

What are your plans for next weekend?

Thanks for reading!! And remember….

MyTee Monday

15 Oct

Hello Hue Lovers!!

Today’s post is dedicated to the brand Mytee B.A.D. (myteebad.com). I have posted about this brand in the past, with a look inspired by their Tripe L bracelet Tuesday Tip: Be Inspired!!. In thatt post I focused on the “Live” bracelet in the Triple L set and today I am doing a look inspired by the “Love” Bracelet in the set. This bracelet is adorable and the perfect way to represent ‘love’.Β  It is a hand beaded bracelet with gorgeous colors like pink, fuchsia and purple. It has skulls, which we all know are huge right now and it has a silver medallion that reads “love”. I wear this bracelet often for a nice pop of color in my daily arm candy.

I decided to create 3 looks for this bracelet because I felt that “love” would deserve more than just one! I went with an editorial look first by having a simple eye and some heart focused lip art. This was definitely something fun just for pictures, but unfortunately not something I could wear out and maintain. The next two looks are very similar, the main difference being that one is more purple and fuchsia based while the other has a bit more pink in it. These looks are definitely wearable for a fall first date or a night out with your sweetheart. All three looks feature my top 3 favorite Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetic liptars; Belladonna (Ultra Violet) Black Dahlia (Blackest Blackened Red or Blood Red) and Anime (Bright Neon Fuchsia/Pink). In the first look liptars are used to feature a Black Dahlia heart, while in the second look I mixed the colors to create the perfect fall plum darkened at the corners with Sugarpill’s Bulletproof pressed eyeshadow.

The Love bracelet gave me the opportunity to express my love for a few things in one shot! I used liptars that I will not hesitate to say I am in love with. They are amazing to work with and the colors are to die for.Β  My all time favorite color is purple and you can see that I put it everywhere I could in this look. Along with my OCC liptars, I used shadows from Sugarpill Cosmetics and Inglot Cosmetics. These three companies are my favorite makeup companies and it was great to use them in a look representing love.

What are some products or companies that you love? What is your go-to product for a date?

I hope you all enjoy this look and thanks for reading πŸ™‚ Remember….

Tuesday Tip: Drop the Base

18 Sep

Hello Lovers!

As you can see from the title, my Tuesday Tip post name is a nod to my love of dubstep! Aside from that, this post will also recognize some of my most used and favorite products as eyeshadow bases. An eyeshadow base is something that you use to assist your shadow in not only lasting longer, bu also aids in giving a shadow more depth, vibrancy and/or dimension. I ALWAYS use an eyeshadow base because I tend to go anywhere from 8-14 hours with my makeup on. I also use it because I am a Hue Lover and it is wonderful to give a color as much vibrancy as possible. In my first ever Tuesday Tip I spoke about primers and how they help your makeup last all day, a primer can be used as a base, but I prefer to use other products with my primer to help it along. I feel that wearing primer under my base helps to prevent creasing and wear on my base. There are many things that can be used as a base, you are not limited to products that say ‘eyeshadow base’, there are a number of products that can be used as alternatives.

What else can a base do for you? One of the most wonderful and awesome things about primers and bases, would be that they can give a much better payout to a product that is relatively inexpensive. Ever wonder how some beauty gurus can get professional quality makeup with drugstore brands? Well a good primer and a good base can make all the difference! You can use makeup from the dollar store, Target or a high end store and get amazing results when you have a good primer and base. For some info on primers you can check out my postΒ Tuesday Tip: Make your makeup last!!. and for info on eyeshadow base alternatives that are good for a variety of things, just continue reading!

There are a number of base alternatives that you can find when you’re shopping at your local beauty supply store (Ricky’s, Sehpora, MAC, Ulta, etc) I will only be writing about my twoΒ  go to products for bases in this summer.

NYX Jumbo Pencil

I am a HUGE fan of the widely talked about NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk as a white base. I would say that I use it in about 98% of my looks. It is the perfect matte white base to put anything on top of. I also use it as an inner corner and brow highlight often. NYX Jumbo Pencils can be used as cream shadows, bases or eyeliners which makes them very versatile. I have even used them for some of my colored eyebrow looks. I definitely suggest using a primer under these pencils because they can crease, but aside from that they are great! NYX Jumbo Pencil is easy to blend out and work with when using shadows, it is also a great sticky base for loose shadows that you are using. They come in a huge variety of colors (over 25 shades)Β  and are very affordable. They can be found on NYXcosmetics.com or at Ulta, Sears or Nordstrom Rack as well as online sites like Amazon and Ebay.

Maybelline 24HR Color Tattoo By Eye Studio

These hit the ground running when they showed up on the market in 2012. They have been compared to a drugstore version of MAC’s Paint Pots. I have never tried a MAC Paint Pot, but I can say that I truly love this product. These are cream shadows that can be used alone or as a colored base for an eyeshadow. I own all 9 original shades as well as the limited edition shades that have come out. That is how much I love these!! They are an affordable product with an amazing color payout and long wear. Though I can’t say that this is definitely 24hr wear, I can say that it always lasts me through the time I am wearing it. Though the shades are amazing, once they set they don’t budge….this can be a good and a bad thing. It’s great for long wear through the day, but when doing your makeup you have to be very careful with placement because these are very difficult to blend out or move once they are down. These can be found in any store that carries Maybelline products as well as online.

Noteworthy Products: There are many other products that I use or have heard about and can’t wait to try. These have reviews just as good as the products in this post and are definitely worth checking out!

– Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Shadow Pencil

– Milani Shadow Eyez Pencils

– MAC Paint Pot

Do you use an eyeshadow base? If you do, what is your favorite base to use?

Tuesday Tip: Make your makeup last!!

10 Jul

Hello Lovers,

For all for all of the makeup junkies out there this will be no secret, but for the newbies I have one word: PRIMER! Eyelid primer is a makeup must have. Primer:

– prepares the eyelid and eye area for makeup

– helps prevent wear, fading and creasing of makeup throughout the day

– can help in achieving better color payout

– primer can also transform the shadow you put on top by giving it a light shimmer or mattifying it.

Primer is very simple to use…. you just place a small amount on your finger or a brush (I prefer to use my finger) and apply all over the lid. You can also apply to the under eye area if you plan to wear makeup there or go as far up as the brow.

Though simple to use. primer makes a dramatic difference in the longevity of your look for the day!! Primer is especially essential on these hot and humid summer days when we are prone to sweat.

Hope you all enjoyed this Tuesday tip πŸ™‚ Scroll down for some primer options

The Bargain Buy

For many just starting to get an interest in makeup or those who wear it on rare occasions….you may not want to lay out too much money to begin, here are a couple of bargain buys:

E.L.F Eyelid Primer – Retail $1.00

Can be found at your local Target, Christmas Tree Shoppe or http://www.eyeslipsface.com/

This is great buy for those just dabbling in the water so to speak. It is a decent primer, though the wear isn’t as long as primers or bases of higher quality. Pick this up just to play around with and get a feel for primer before committing to a more expensive brand!

The Makeup Junkie Faves

Though there are numerous primers on the market, two have quite the reputation for great results in the beauty world. They are more expensive than The Bargain Buy but the quality of these products is beyond compare. Both are long wear, crease resistant and easy to work with. Here they are in no particular order:

Urban Decay Primer Potion – Retail $20 – $30

Can be found at beauty retailers like Sephora or Ulta, as well as the website http://www.urbandecay.com/

On the website they also sell the travel size Primer Potion for $9

With four different finishes to choose from, Urban Decay can meet your priming needs. The original primer potion(the purple tube) is the primer that I use on a regular basis. It lasts all day and night with no creasing and keeps my shadows true to their color. Sin (the copper tube) has a champagne shimmer to it that will add some fun shimmer to your shadow. Eden (the beige tube) is a matte primer that brightens the eye and leans toward a more mature look. Greed (the gold tube) has a gold shimmer that leaves a golden sheen under shadows, a great thing for summer.

Too Faced Shadow Insurance – Retail $18

Can be found at beauty retailers like Sephora or Ulta, as well as https://www.toofaced.com/

Too Faced Shadow Insurance is another favorite with an amazing reputation. It comes in three finishes and is long wearing and crease resistant. I have not had the opportunity to use TFSI but I look forward to the day that I do. The original (blue tube) has a normal finish for all of you priming needs. Too Faced Shadow Insurance in Candlelight(light pink tube) has a shimmering gold glow like candlelight and is perfect for a gorgeous little extra to your makeup. Too Faced Shadow Insurance in Lemon Drop (cream tube) is infused with a lemon-yellow color to neutralize redness in the eye, perfect for those who tend to have a bit of redness in the lid and inner corner.

Have any of you ever used a primer? Which have you loved? Which didn’t impress you? Let me know in the comment section
