November Favorites!!

27 Nov

Hello Lovers!!

As the month comes to a close, I wanted to take a moment to highlight some of my favorite go-to products this month. I have been into a very neutral eye paired with a dark lip vibe lately. These products help me to achieve that beautifully, as well as lasting all day!

Image

Here is a break down of the list going clockwise:

Ulta Voluptuous Volume Mascara – THIS. That is what I have to say about this mascara. It is amazing and does everything I need it to do. I get great volume and a wonderful darkness and depth to my lashes with this product. This can be purchased at your local Ulta.

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Liptar in ‘Black Dahlia’ – THIS.IS.EVERYTHING. I am absolutely in love with this liptar. It is everything that fall and winter should be; dark, sultry, smooth and warm in the coolest way. It comes on as the darkest blood cherry red and also has a slight stain quality that makes it so you never look like you’re without color in your lips. It’s gorgeous in short. It can be purchased at occmakeup.com, at their stand alone store in NYC or at select Sephora locations.

Sugarpill Cosmetics Pressed Eyeshadow in ‘Bulletproof’ – This matte black shadow is a must have! I feel that this is an essential eye shadow to have in your collection. I literally us this shadow in 90% of my makeup looks. This month I have used Bulletproof to set my liner and smudge it out for more depth. Purchase this at http://www.sugarpillshop.com/

Urban Decay 24HR Liquid Eyeliner in ‘Perversion’ – This is a great liquid eyeliner that is easy to apply and lasts all day. It is one of the darkest eyeliners I have used and I have never had a problem with applying it. Purchase at urbandecay.com, Ulta or Sephora.

Sauce Box Cosmetics Eyeshadow in ‘Spy’ – This eyeshadow has been the perfect highlight for me. It is easy to use, not to chalky or powdery but also not too strong for a subtle highlight. I use it under my brow to really emphasize the shape and bring some brightness to my eyes. This can be purchased at sauceboxcosmetics.com

Inglot Cosmetics Freedom System Rainbow Shadows – The freedom system from Inglot is one of my favorite things in the makeup world. You pick and choose what colors you want and make a wonderful palette with them, As a step up….they have the Rainbow shadows, which contain 3 colors in one pan. This is the perfect set up for lid, crease and a highlight all in one!! They have lots of options, I only posted some of the options that are perfect for somebody doing a neutral look. These can be purchased at inglotusa.com or Inglot stores.

What are your favorite products for November?

Happy Halloween

31 Oct

Hello Hue Lovers!!

I understand that the devastation of Hurricane Sandy has us all shaken to the core, and has been life changing for many. For those who have lost loved ones, possessions or even just power, you are in my thoughts and prayers. I am praying that you all come out of this safe and sound. For those fortunate enough to have power, do not hesitate to open your arms to friends and neighbors who may not be as fortunate.

Today is a day that has always been a celebration for children, teens and even some adults!! Halloween is a fun and light hearted holiday that allows us to let our imaginations free. For those who can, please take the time to enjoy this day. Dress your children, siblings, cousins etc. up and have fun. Try trick or treating or just enjoying the outdoors while there is still daylight!!

Just a few tips for today:
1. Trick or treat during daylight and stop to head home before dark. Many street lights are still out and power lines are on the ground. This is a safety hazard.

2. If you are driving around try and wrap up before dusk because many traffic signals are out.

3. It has been very chilly since yesterday, so be sure to layer before going out.

4. HAVE FUN!!

What are your plans for today?

Out of this World (Halloween Post)

28 Oct

Hello Hue Lovers!!

I hope you all enjoyed your pre-Halloween weekend!! I went to a Halloween party hosted by my company and I ran into the worst scenario!! At 6pm I made the decision that I did not want to be Medusa, my planned Halloween costume!! At this time I racked my brain and wardrobe for some idea of what to be and this is what I came up with.

An ALIEN!! This was the perfect costume for me…quick and easy to put together. I went for a warrior princess vibe with my hair and outfit. I love the color play that you can do with a costume like this and I definitely recommend it for those who haven’t picked a costume yet!! You can go big and paint your entire body or just your face. As far as makeup….the options are endless, this is the perfect costume for somebody who wants to let some of their creativity out!! I definitely would do this again for a themed party or event.

Have you planned your costume yet?

Tuesday Tip : Mix and Match!! (Halloween Post)

23 Oct

Hello Hue Lovers!!

For all of my fashion lovers out there, we know that mixing prints is huge right now! Floral with stripes, polka dots with plaid…. if it works, it’s a go!! This idea of mixing and matching prints and patterns can help you with a unique and fun Halloween look, as well as your daily fashion. You can pick a theme for your face paint and use patterns  to bring your look to a new place this Halloween!!

Tonight I have taken a request from one of our Hue Lovers , Lisa F and put my own twist on it. Lisa requested a patchwork doll look for Halloween, so I took that request and decided to make it a mixed pattern patchwork doll. I pulled my inspiration from patterns that I enjoy: polka dots, floral and plaid! I think it came together to be a creepy but fun Halloween look!! I would like to give a special thank you to Lisa  for her wonderfully inspiring idea !! I hope you enjoyed the result!!

What are your favorite patterns to play with?

I hope you enjoyed this look !! Thank you for reading and remember….

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

22 Oct

Hello Hue Lovers!!

How beautiful was this weekend, right?? After a gorgeous fall weekend I feel great going into the new week. Though I worked on Saturday, I was able to enjoy a wonderful and uplifting Sunday by attending the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. The energy was amazing and the day was absolutely beautiful. In my post, Tuesday Tip: Always Remember that Hope Makes All Things Possible!. , I showed a Day Look and Night Look for Breast Cancer Awareness. For the walk I decided to wear makeup that was practical for a walk but still fun and inspired!

As you can see I went veryyyy light with my makeup for the walk. I rocked a simple eye with liner, but Sugarpill’s Dollipop gave the perfect pop of pink on my lid. For my lips I decided to go nice and bright pink!! I used OCC’s Anime lip tar topped with Revlon’s Lip Butter in Lollipop, I darkened the corners with a black liner blended in.

I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful and productive weekend! Here are a couple of pics from my day!

What are your plans for next weekend?

Tuesday Tip: Less is More Pt. 2 (Halloween Post)

16 Oct

Hello Hue Lovers!!

Today I would like to give you a quick Tuesday Tip that will help you with your Halloween plans this years!! Save money!!!! Instead of going out and spending $25-$50 on a Halloween costume, take $10 to the dollar store and get everything you need for an awesome Halloween look. Makeup is a great way to bypass paying for a costume and turning less into more. You can pick a makeup look and use what clothes, accessories and props you have in your house to complete your look. As I’ve said in the past, I am a huge fan of the impact that a split face has so that always helps your homemade costume. In my first post Tuesday Tip: Less is More (Halloween Post!!). , I showed you two looks….here is another great half face Halloween idea!!

Tonight I have done a Halloween look that I call “The Transition”, it depicts a girl becoming a comic book character. She goes from a pretty girl to a wide eyed, pop art styled cartoon girl. With this look I can wear a simple outfit and call it a day!! It only requires about 6 items that can all be purchased at a dollar store. These items will fill all of your pop art/comic book needs: black eyeliner and white eyeliner, a bright eyeshadow (I used blue), a bright blush and three lipsticks. One lipstick will serve as your dot maker and the other two will be your lip colors. This can keep your Halloween costs under $10!!!! You can even pick up some makeup for a play, musical or just for fun!!

What do you plan to be this Halloween?
I hope this tip helped you!! Thanks for reading and remember….

MyTee Monday

15 Oct

Hello Hue Lovers!!

Today’s post is dedicated to the brand Mytee B.A.D. (myteebad.com). I have posted about this brand in the past, with a look inspired by their Tripe L bracelet Tuesday Tip: Be Inspired!!. In thatt post I focused on the “Live” bracelet in the Triple L set and today I am doing a look inspired by the “Love” Bracelet in the set. This bracelet is adorable and the perfect way to represent ‘love’.  It is a hand beaded bracelet with gorgeous colors like pink, fuchsia and purple. It has skulls, which we all know are huge right now and it has a silver medallion that reads “love”. I wear this bracelet often for a nice pop of color in my daily arm candy.

I decided to create 3 looks for this bracelet because I felt that “love” would deserve more than just one! I went with an editorial look first by having a simple eye and some heart focused lip art. This was definitely something fun just for pictures, but unfortunately not something I could wear out and maintain. The next two looks are very similar, the main difference being that one is more purple and fuchsia based while the other has a bit more pink in it. These looks are definitely wearable for a fall first date or a night out with your sweetheart. All three looks feature my top 3 favorite Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetic liptars; Belladonna (Ultra Violet) Black Dahlia (Blackest Blackened Red or Blood Red) and Anime (Bright Neon Fuchsia/Pink). In the first look liptars are used to feature a Black Dahlia heart, while in the second look I mixed the colors to create the perfect fall plum darkened at the corners with Sugarpill’s Bulletproof pressed eyeshadow.

The Love bracelet gave me the opportunity to express my love for a few things in one shot! I used liptars that I will not hesitate to say I am in love with. They are amazing to work with and the colors are to die for.  My all time favorite color is purple and you can see that I put it everywhere I could in this look. Along with my OCC liptars, I used shadows from Sugarpill Cosmetics and Inglot Cosmetics. These three companies are my favorite makeup companies and it was great to use them in a look representing love.

What are some products or companies that you love? What is your go-to product for a date?

I hope you all enjoy this look and thanks for reading 🙂 Remember….

Tuesday Tip: Always Remember that Hope Makes All Things Possible!

9 Oct

Hello Lovers!!

Today I would like to talk about something that is near and dear to all of our hearts; HOPE! Hope is what makes the impossible become possible and gives us more strength than we knew we could ever possess. Hope for a brighter tomorrow gets us through our days. I have decided to begin doing posts dedicated to hope and awareness for many causes that affect us on many levels. I personally have loved ones fighting/dealing with cancer, diabetes and cerebral palsy just to name a few. I think it is important to acknowledge the beautiful and amazing inspiration I have gotten from the people in my life affected  hardship.

Tonight’s look is dedicated to a beautiful and fiery woman who has a heart of gold, Toni Mercado. I met her at church and have always felt a motherly love from her. She is fun, compassionate and a spitfire!! I have taken these qualities for my inspiration in tonight’s breast cancer awareness inspired looks. I have created a day look and a night look that incorporate a soft and feminine beauty with soft pink and a fun and fiery splash of hot electric pink! I have all the hope in the world for her and she is in my thoughts and prayers daily. A beautiful soul in all regards. This is for you Toni.

Red, Black and Gold for the Fearless and BOLD!!

4 Oct

Hello Lovers!!
Today is a very special day for me 😉 What is it you ask?? It is founder’s day for my sorority, Sigma Iota Sigma Multicultural Sorority Inc. ! We were founded on October 4, 1994 by 4 culturally diverse women. Because being a SISter in this organization has changed my life in the last 4.5 years, I knew that I had to do a look dedicated to it!!

Our organizations’ colors are red, black and gold….but that wasn’t my only inspiration for this look. I was greatly inspired by the amazing women I have met through this organization and what we stand for. My look is bold, fiery, interesting and captivating just like my sorority SISters! I experimented with some new shapes for my interpretation of this look and I love how they work! Trying something new is always exciting with makeup…..and the best part? You can always wash it off and start again!

I hope you all enjoy this look as much as I do!!

What new things have you tried with your makeup latey??

Tuesday Tip: Less is More (Halloween Post!!)

2 Oct

Hello Lovers!!
October is hereee and that means that it is officially Halloween season. I have never been the type to say “I absolutely have to do something this year.”…. but now I see Halloween as the perfect opportunity to practice more artistic makeup. I will be doing a few Halloween posts a week showing looks, products and tricks.

Today I wanted to do a post about one of my favorite things to see….the half face. I love the effect that you get when you only do two different looks on one face, thus the title ‘Less is More’. You don’t have to do a full faced sugar skull or android to get an great effect!! You can do two different looks on your face and if they are well done, they will look just as amazing as a full face!! My favorite combo is to do a face that is extremely dramatic next to really pretty natural makeup. I feel that the contrast really makes a statement.

This technique also can cut your makeup time in half, so I definitely recommend trying it out this year for some of the Halloween festivities that you attend. Just a note: when planning to do a half face, I have found that a good matte black eyeshadow is KEY! This will help with shading and transitioning one look to the other.

What is your favorite Halloween look?
